Losing a loved one to substance-related causes has been a catalyst for many powerful movements, including the large opioid lawsuits, the start of multiple organizations (small and large), and so many more. Some bereaved individuals feel a desire to get involved in advocacy, but may not be sure how to get started. This workshop features three bereaved mothers (Barbara Allen, founder of James’ Place, Robyn Houston-Bean, founder of The Sun Will Rise, and Joyal Mulheron, founder of Evermore) who have turned to advocacy throughout their grief experience and found success at the local, regional, and national levels. This workshop will discuss the power of turning grief’s pain into purpose and how anyone can get started in a manner that feels aligned with them.
